Stressing!!!!

Post by Clair_Doyle on Mon Jun 22, 2009 4:15 pm

Hey ladies,

Niamh hasn't taken a full feed for 9 days now... usually she'll take 5-6oz every three hours, and she's only been taking 3oz a feed, and today she's only taken 4oz in over 12 hours... I took her to the dr on Friday and they said it was a mixture of teething (you can see two teeth cutting at the bottom) and her jabs last Wednesday. It's got worse though, and she's barely eating today, and sleeping all the time. She's also only had one barely wet nappy all day.

I've got an appointment at 5pm for her, but I'm worried they're going to fob me off again... I mean, feeding that little just isn't right... is it??

I hope Niamh is feeding better now?
My little one went from 5-6 oz back down to 3oz and seems to yo yo up and down every few days. He seems to drink less when its hot - which is exactly when I would expect him to drink more! He sometimes misses a complete feed but has never gone 12 hours on so little fluid, you must be really worried. I would be stressing too if it was my baby. I have my fingers crossed for you.

She isn't feeding any better :-( I'm hoping she takes more in the night - otherwise, I think it'll be a trip to hospital tomorrow...

We had a bit of a better day on Tuesday, but an awful day again yesterday... went back to the dr as the HV insisted... he's sending an urgent referral to the paediatric team, and has said to start weaning as it's important to get something into her, even if it isn't milk...
