post natel depression

Post by misspink87 on Tue Jun 09, 2009 9:19 am

any of us had it? i did the Edinburgh scale questionnaire thing and got 21 out of 30 Crying or Very sad im going to see docs on thurs to sort something out. i sort of knew i would get it as i had depression last april and had to come off anti d's due to finding out i was pg! ive never felt so down as i do now though and its really taking its toll on mine and andys relationship Sad

hopefully a chat with the docs will start the process of picking things up ey Smile

I suffered with PND after the birth of my son, and have since been diagnosed as Bipolar. Thankfully, it hasn't been anywhere near as bad this time round... I've been off meds since Dec 2007, and don't need to go back on them as yet I don't think. I'm still under the care of a psychiatrist though. Am here if you need to talk, as I know what you're going through!

thank u girls..im feeling slightly better today. me and jayme are going to my mates in stafford for the weekend and i really cant wait! she is taking me out saturday night so her mom is going to babysit for me Very Happy silly but im getting really excited haha bounce im seeing the same doc tomorrow that diagnosed me with depression last year, i reckon she will put me back on anti d's...anything to make me feel better i say!

its weird tho coz when i have days like how im feeling today, i feel like ringing up the docs and canceling my appointment coz i feel like there is nothing really wrong with me and more deserving people should take up the docs time confused ..............i dunno ...

Don't cancel that appointment! People with depression still have good days! If it'll help, keep a journal - I use www.livejournal.com, and it's great... that might help you see a pattern of good and bad days, and what trigger them for you?

Ask her directly to refer you for counselling - it'll probably help to talk about how you're feeling, as well as taking any medication they recommend :-)

Please make sure you get sorted!
I know meds aren't great - I suffer from osteoarthritus in my hips and am waiting for hip replacements and since my c sect my right hip has been agony! but meds can help, and think how much happier your LO will be once mummy is happy again!!!
Have a great weekend, you deserve a good break, Im going to try and get a rest this weekend, not going anywhere, done all the shopping etc today and try and get my hip to settle a bit.
As i said before, if you need to talk then just pm me or get me on msn!!!
